How to Remove Dog Pee Out Of An Area Rug

Let's be real, accidents can happen! We love dogs but sometimes they can be a little messy.

how to clean your dog's urine out of a rug

Cleaning your dog's pee out of your area rug is easy with this step by step guide

Step 1.  BLOT the area as quick as you can and as much as you can. Extract as much pet urine as you possible can. Use a paper towel to absorb any excess urine from your rug. Step on the spot using your heel to press down on the area preventing the urine from expanding.
Step 2. Spray plain water and use a paper towel to absorb until the yellowish liquid is no longer visible. Avoid rubbing the area because this will cause the rug fibers to become matted.
Step 3. Use a vinegar solution combining 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. Remember to always do a spot test first. Spray the area with the vinegar solution first then use a small cloth or soft bristle brush and with soft circle motions engage the area lightly. Remove the solution from the carpet with clean water. Lastly, blot it using a dry paper towel.
Step 4. Sprinkle baking soda directly on the area. Be generous with the amount. Baking soda is a natural odor neutralizer; let it sit for an hour to get rid of any possible odor.
STEP 5. Vacuum as normal.
